Waywire CEO Nathan Richardson Departs As Company Shifts Focus From content creation To curation
Waywire CEO Nathan Richardson out as company shifts focus content creation for Healing

The
CEO of Waywire - commissioning co-founded by Newark mayor and candidate
for senator Cory Booker - leave office, TechCrunch has learned. The
resignation comes as the company is in the midst of a strategic shift
in content creation content curation, according to a source familiar
with the company's strategy.Richardson was one of the three founding members Waywire team, along with Booker and Sarah Ross. According to our source, the company is looking for a new CEO, who is expected to be named shortly. Meanwhile,
Ross is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the company and
Richardson will remain on the board of the company. The change in leadership comes as Waywire is at a turning point in its strategic direction. It
is expected that the company, which originally planned to focus on
creating original content and discovery, bet big on content curation.Although
still in beta, original content has moved to the background as the
company intends to change its product and prepare it for launch. Thus, Waywire will rely on others to highlight emerging interesting content. So
instead of being responsible for creating interesting content, users
and brands hope will highlight content created elsewhere. With
the new direction of the company, Waywire focuses on the ways in which
it can add value to users through three different types of content
curation: the one carried out by their own editors, which is done through their community, and what is done by the content partners. With
this new goal in mind, the company has been working to partner with
major media companies - and has signed two, which will be named later. So where is Richardson? We're not sure, but TechCrunch received a tip today is joining AOL, to meet with AOL Brand CEO Susan Lyne. The
two worked together while Lyne was CEO of the City of New York-based
Gilt Groupe and Richardson served a variety of functions, including GM
of the section of the page for the men, and the chairman of the Golden
City. (Our parent company AOL did not respond to requests for comment.)Richardson is not the only person to leave as a result of the transition, we have learned. A total of eight employees Waywire have moved since the company has changed its strategy in recent weeks.
